What can you prepare and eat with Date Honey?
 

Not only is Date Honey a sweet and healthy replacement for regular honey, which is vegan friendly. Date Honey can also be used as a healthier alternative in every dessert that honey is usually used. It’s an excellent replacement at it retains the sweetness but is also high-quality, healthy and natural. Date honey Is also an excellent ingredient to be used in meat dishes, it can help create a flavoursome marinade or be used when cooking chicken stew or beef stew, Moroccan lamb, beef tagine and many more.

Grilled chicken with date honey and garlic

Ingredients

• Chicken Drumsticks/Thighs/Wings - 8

• Date Honey/Syrup - 1/4 Cup

• Soya - 2 Tablespoons

• Garlic Cloves - 5

• Salt and Ground Black Pepper – to taste

• Sweet Paprika & Mustard - 1 Tablespoon Each


Method

  1. Clean the chicken from any leftover fat and extra stuff. Those who want to - you can get rid of the skin.

  2. Arrange the chicken in a heat resistant pan.

  3. With the broad blade of a knife - Mash the garlic lightly.

  4. Add the crushed garlic and other ingredients onto the chicken.

  5. Coating it on all sides with your hands of course!

  6. You can and should cover with plastic wrap - and put in the fridge for a night - you can also go on immediately to the next stage.

  7. Place in the oven at 350F for 55 minutes.

  8. It is ready!

Roasted Apple Slices with Date Honey

 

Ingredients

● 4 apples, peeled and sliced thin

● 1 tablespoon lemon juice

● 3 tablespoon date syrup

● 1 teaspoon cinnamon

● 1/4 teaspoon cardamom

● 1 teaspoon corn-starch

● pinch of salt

● 1 tablespoon Earth Balance Margarine, cut into small pieces

 

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 200°c (Gas Mark 6).

  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment, spray with cooking spray.

  3. Mix apples with lemon juice, date syrup, cinnamon, cardamom, corn-starch and salt in a deep bowl.

  4. Spread on baking sheet, top with pieces of Earth Balance.  

  5. Bake 15 to 20 minutes until golden and soft.

Date Honey Cake

Ingredients

1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda 
1/2 tsp cinnamon & Salt
1/2 tsp ground – ginger & Nutmeg
2 tsp grated fresh orange peel
1 tsp grated fresh lemon peel
1 cup date honey
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
1/3 cup sugar


Method

    • 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour

    • 1-1/2 tsp baking powder

    • 1/2 tsp baking soda

    • 1/2 tsp cinnamon & Salt

    • 1/2 tsp ground – ginger & Nutmeg

    • 2 tsp grated fresh orange peel

    • 1 tsp grated fresh lemon peel

    • 1 cup date honey

    • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

    • 2 large eggs

    • 1/3 cup sugar

    1. Preheat the oven to 165 °c  (Gas mark 3). Lightly grease a 9 inches x 5 inches loaf pan. Line the pan with parchment paper, then lightly grease the paper. Set the pan aside.

    2. Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, orange peel and lemon peel together in a bowl. Set aside.

    3. Whisk the date honey, coffee and vegetable oil together and set aside.

    4. In the bowl of an electric mixer set at medium speed, beat the eggs and sugar for 2-3 minutes or until well blended. Stir in the honey mixture and blend it in thoroughly. Add the flour mixture and blend it in thoroughly.

    5. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a cake tester inserted into the centre comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes then invert onto a cake rack to cool completely.
